Long ago, when the Delaware tribe called Goschagunk (Coshocton) their capitol, they would have a festival celebrating the fall. Anticipating the arrival of the Shawnee tribe, they would set up lodging, fire pits, and prepare a great feast. This was done to the west of Goschagunk high on a hill near a spring.
After the Shawnee arrived a celebration incurred. They sang, danced, and ate. They traded beads, good luck charms, animal skins, and other crafts.
It is with this same spirit that Shawnee Springs Winery was founded four hundred years later.
